BIG ARTS "Taylor 2"

Taylor 2

Saturday, January 21, 7:30 PM

Fifty years after the legendary Paul Taylor began redefining dance, his dancers continue to perform his works around the world. The Taylor 2 company was specially created for smaller community audiences like BIG ARTS. In selecting the repertoire for Taylor 2, Taylor chooses arrangements that span the broad spectrum of his ever-growing collection of dances, which are known for athleticism, humor, and range of emotions. Many of the pieces have been reworked from the original, celebrated version to enable Taylor 2 to perform them on tour. Gia Kourlas wrote in The New York Times, "Taylor 2 is a kind of miracle ... all of the dancers are considerable talents [who] unite fearlessness with skill."

This lavish revival, streamed live via satellite from Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet is believed to be the most expensive production of a ballet ever mounted, estimated at $1.5 million.
